A 23-year-old young man, Great Indian Babar Ali, from a village in West Bengal has taught more than 3,000 children in the last 14 years in a school he started when he was only nine. At a time when his peers are still studying or looking for jobs, Babar Ali already holds a unique post –as head of a school he started more than a decade ago in his village, Gangpur, in Murshidabad district of West Bengal, around 180 kilometers from the State capital.
Having seen his folks battle to send their kids to class, Great Indian Babar Ali has chosen to do his bit for youngsters who couldn’t go to class attributable to destitution. He began showing kids after school hours. His work earned him the title of the ‘most youthful director on the planet’ by BBC in October 2009, at a young age of 16. Baber Ali is an Indian student and teacher from Murshidabad, West Bengal. The school that he runs is an outdoor school and counts a total of 10 teachers – all of them students at nearby school or college – who volunteer to teach.
